Diary Entries

Dear Diary,
This is amazing!  Finally I will be able to go to college now thanks to President Johnson, and the Higher Education Act of 1965.  Mom and Dad don't have enough money to send me off to college otherwise so these loans really help us all out.  Now, I will be able to get a degree, and that means a job!  A job means money, and now I will be able to help Mom and Dad out for paying for me all these years.  I can't even explain how much this changes my life.  I saw no future before this Act, but now I see a future for myself.  I will finally be able to support a family once I get a job after college, too.  Some colleges have been telling me that I can have a scholarship too because of my grades and financial position.  This is the best news I have heard all my life!  A scholarship, and loans on top of that.  I thank President Johnson for passing those bills to have better classrooms and lending loans because I'm sure his students in the schools really appreciate it.  He is one of the first Presidents to realize that we are the upcoming generation and that we must be educated well in order to thrive in the business world, or any type of work field for that matter.  He has given me the confidence to go on in life!
Bill.

Dear Diary,
Wow... I can't believe that I will finally be able to learn skills in the work field that I have wanted to be in.  The Job Corps that President Lyndon B Johnson designed for people from 16 to 24 years of age is wonderful!  Free of charge and any other types of training, this organization has truly changed my life.  Now I am going to be able to "improve the quality of my life" like the President has assured us young adults.  There are a few steps to this new process however.  At first, you must meet with a counselor and get your bearings, then you start training for whatever job might fit your liking.  After some years of training, then there is a period where one transitions to their career of choice.  I have decided to go into automobile and machine repairing, and I absolutely love what I get to learn at this vocational school.  Now, I have a future set for me; a future that I would have never seen myself in without the help of President Johnson and this lovely program.
Dylan.

Dear Diary,
Today my life has been changed for the better.  Today my little daughter's life has also been changed for the better as well.  And it is all thanks to President Lyndon B Johnson for creating the Head Start Program for little ones who come from disadvantaged families like ours unfortunately.  Now she will be able to have a firm future of schooling ahead of her.  This is something that she was not originally going to have because quite frankly we do not have the money to support our 3 children and 1 coming on the way.  Our oldest has not been lucky enough to receive a school education, and because of that he stays and works with his father on the farm.  But my little Daisy will now be able to get some education like the rest of the children and have a normal childhood finally.  The President is a very thoughtful man who realized the benefits that could come from educating the younger generation.
My whole family is so grateful to him because he has given us hope for our next children to come and go through the school system
Donna.
